Enid mother of three disappeared over eight years ago and hasn't been heard from since

Updated: Aug 3, 2020

On May 27, 2012 Shannon Baldwin Hokanson, the mother of three children, spoke with her mother via telephone, which was the routine each week for the Enid woman.

She never contacted her loved ones again and wasn't reported missing until August 7, nearly four months after her disappearance.

Recently, an Enid attorney petitioned the Garfield County District Court to have Shannon declared legally deceased in an effort to assist her children with death benefits.

The Enid Police Department has vigorously investigated Shannon’s disapperance since it was first reported. Over the years they have received a number of tips, interviewed a variety of potential witnesses, cleared persons of interest, and searched homes and fields.

Based on that investigation, the Enid Police Department believes that Hokanson is likely deceased and was the victim of a homicide.

They have also publicly stated they think they have identified individuals involved in Hokanson's potential death, although she is still essentially listed as a missing person. Shannon was described as a white female, 5'2" and weighing about 150 pounds. She had long brown hair and brown eyes and had numerous tattoos, including a frog with a mushroom on the outside of her ankle, blue roses on her lower back, an orange flower on the top of her left foot, a butterfly on the back of her right shoulder, a heart between her thumb and index finger, and unfinished flames running down her spine.

She was 29 when she was last seen and would turn 38 this December. Hokanson does have a history of drug use, and drugs could be a factor in her disappearance.

Police say she may use the last names Baldwin and/or Baldwin-Hokanson, and some accounts refer to her by either of those names.
